“East Bay College Fund Pledges $1,000 Scholarships to Entire Class of Graduating Fifth Graders”
For Immediate Release
May 3, 2007
Forty Oakland elementary school children will receive a special gift when they graduate from fifth grade this June – the pledge of a $1,000 college scholarship. In a partnership intended to encourage youngsters to stay in school and prepare for higher education, East Bay College Fund, a grassroots scholarship organization, is making a financial commitment to the entire 2007 graduating class of Think College Now (TCN), a pioneering public elementary school in Oakland’s Fruitvale district.
The East Bay College Fund scholarships will become available to each TCN youngster after they graduate from high school and enroll in a two-or four-year college.
