Why Support East Bay College Fund?
Access to higher education and earning a college degree has enormous positive implications for individuals as well as society as a whole. It is in all of our best interests to actively promote college attendance.
- According to the U.S. Census Bureau, individuals who receive a bachelor’s degree can, on average, expect to earn over $1 million more in their lifetime compared to individuals who are high school graduates.
- Other advantages include increased options in life and a greater opportunity to fulfill one’s potential.
- A just released Brookings Institute Study confirms that obtaining a college education is key to an individuals economic mobility.

But Here Is the Challenge: Low-income students face major obstacles in their pursuit of higher education. As a result, fewer attend college…and even fewer graduate from college. For example, two-thirds of students from the top socio-economic quartile enroll in a four-year college versus one-fifth of students from the bottom quartile. As one educator remarks, “The least bright rich kids have as much chance of going to college as the smartest poor kids”.
We believe that–with the help of the community– we can make a substantial difference in the lives of numerous young people and their families by helping them obtain a college degree.
We believe that our model is unique and compelling. It is a proven, efficient and effective way for community members to “make a difference” with their charitable dollars and/or their volunteer time.
If you would like to help build a brighter future for your community and its young people, we invite you to support East Bay College Fund.
You’ll be giving the best gifts of all–education and opportunity.
